General Directions
Always use a copy of the district's handwriting curriculum for scoring.
Score the words first, then the letters.
Score either the generic passage (Taylor) or grade level passage first. It does not matter.
Punctuation is not included in the scoring.
Use different colors for scoring--one for words, another for letters.
When counting words, put a line under each word that is correct.
When counting letters, put a dot under each letter is correct.
No points are deducted if a student combines manuscript and cursive styles in the same sample.
